Lagos State Lotteries And Gaming Authority Training

The Lagos State Lotteries and Gaming Authority (LAGOSLGA) is the body responsible for licencing and regulating lotteries and related gaming activities in Lagos, Nigeria.

As part of its core values LagosLGA is committed to creating and promoting a conducive business environment for licenced gaming operators in Lagos, Nigeria. This includes monitoring and ensuring that operators comply with all the relevant laws, regulations and policies relating to the gaming industry.

In a bid to bridge the gap in the skillset in the industry and continued capacity development of the industry workforce, the LagosLGA in partnership with iGaming Academy is introducing a mandatory online training platform accessible to all licenced operators in Lagos, Nigeria. This is in compliance with the new normal: Covid-19 protocol.

iGaming Academy is an international body reputed for its vast knowledge and expertise in gaming since 2015 and trains over 50,000 gaming professionals in over 45 countries each year. The Academy is an accredited training provider by LagosLGA to provide and offer courses with respect to gaming activities to stakeholders in the Lagos gaming industry.

In 2021, the Lagos State Government harmonized into a single document, all laws relating to gaming to accommodate current and future realities of the industry and meet with international best gaming practices and standards. The new law titled, The Lagos State Lotteries and Gaming Authority Law 2021 has incorporated the Responsible Gaming Regulations 2021.

REQUIREMENTS

All licenced operators in Lagos State, Nigeria are required to provide its key employees with the underlisted training periodically:

• Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing [Mandatory] 
• Responsible Gaming [Mandatory] 
• Cybersecurity Awareness [Mandatory]
• Information Security  [Mandatory]

Kindly be informed that the above listed four (4) online courses are mandatory for all key employees, staff, agents and affiliates of LAGOSLGA licenced operators. However, participants who have successfully completed the mandatory courses are entitled to one (1) bonus course listed below:

• Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard 
• Anti-Fraud and Payments Handling 
• Customer Service 
• Introduction to iGaming 
• Online Casino Management 
• Customer Relationship Management

iGaming Academy also offers a wider portfolio of courses to enhance compliance culture, industry knowledge, and job skills which are also available for subscription under the LagosLGA-iGaming platform to further staff knowledge.

TRAINING YEAR 2021

For Y2021 training, all Operators and Stakeholders are required to submit the names of the key employees, staff, agents and affiliates to LagosLGA on or before the 24th August, 2021.

All staff training records must be submitted to the authority on a yearly basis by the operators (including names, dates of training and the nature of training) as this will be a condition for licence renewal.
