And It’s Filling Up
Q4 has arrived, which means the window for getting your 2026 MGA Key Function CPD hours sorted is getting noticeably smaller.
The good news? There are still plenty of sessions coming up.
The less convenient news? The Q4 calendar is already filling up.
The Malta Gaming Authority requires Key Persons to complete annual CPD relevant to their authorised Key Function. That means 5 hours for CEOs or equivalent roles and 10 hours for most other Key Functions, including Operations, Compliance, Legal, Data Protection, MLRO, Internal Audit and Technology.
If you’ve been meaning to look at your remaining hours, now is probably the moment.
The Q4 MGA Key Function calendar is live
The latest iGaming Academy calendar brings new Q4 dates across the full range of MGA Key Functions, with virtual sessions designed around the areas Key Persons need to stay current on.
That includes:
And there is a good mix of subjects within each area, so you can choose sessions that are genuinely relevant to your role rather than spending a day listening to material you already know.
The MGA recognises relevant professional education, including training, workshops, seminars and conferences, as CPD activities, provided the participation and hours can be appropriately evidenced.
So, what’s coming up?
A CEO Workshop, in person in Malta
For CEOs and equivalent Key Function holders, one of the standout Q4 dates is our MGA Key Function CEO Workshop on 19 November.
And this one is in person.
ME Malta, St. Julian’s, Malta
10:00-16:00
Networking lunch included
Refreshments throughout the day
5 CPD hours
The workshop brings together senior industry professionals for a full day covering areas relevant to the CEO Key Function, including regulatory developments, governance, AML, enforcement trends, financial reporting, auditing and payments.
It’s also a chance to get out of the usual screen-and-headphones setup and spend the day in the room with other people working at senior level across the industry.
And because it’s a single-date, in-person workshop, there isn’t exactly an endless supply of seats.
If this is the one you have your eye on, don’t leave it until November to decide.
What else is on the Q4 calendar?
Quite a lot, actually.
Across the remaining Key Functions, the Q4 schedule covers everything from responsible gaming and fraud prevention to cybersecurity, GDPR, advertising, internal controls, outsourcing, sports integrity and regulatory developments.
Operations gets into responsible gaming, outsourcing, fraud prevention, sports integrity, customer interaction and more.
Compliance covers areas including AML, responsible gaming, fraud, advertising, data protection and regulatory requirements.
Legal Affairs includes gaming regulation, GDPR, intellectual property, advertising law, contracts and the realities of working in-house.
Technology covers cybersecurity, IT risk management, ISO 27001, software development and security within iGaming.
Internal Audit includes player protection, cybersecurity, fraud prevention, internal controls and iGaming regulation.
And there are dedicated sessions for Data Protection and AML/MLRO, so Key Persons can focus their CPD on areas that actually connect to their day-to-day responsibilities.
The MLRO option is worth knowing about
For those covering the MGA’s Prevention of Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism Key Function, there is another Q4 option worth putting on the calendar.
Our MLRO 3-Day Masterclass takes place on 1-3 December and provides the required 10 CPD hours for the Key Function.
So if your AML CPD is still sitting on the “I’ll get to it” list, December is available.
But again, it is a scheduled 3-day masterclass, not something you can squeeze in whenever you happen to have a spare afternoon.
Don’t wait for the calendar to get even shorter
There’s still time to plan your Q4 CPD, but the choice of dates naturally gets smaller as the year progresses.
If you have particular topics you want to cover, a specific Key Function requirement to meet, or simply prefer certain dates, the new calendar gives you the chance to plan around what works best.
The full Q4 MGA Key Function Training Calendar is now available, with dates across all eight Key Functions.
Have a look at what’s coming up, find the sessions that work for your role, and book your place while the dates you want are still available.
