WHY TAKE THIS COURSE
Discover the download and GAT classes and their supporting standards
The Game-to-System (G2S) protocol includes functionality that is not present in most other protocols. This functionality includes software download – technology that allows new software and firmware to be downloaded and installed on Electronic Gaming Machines (EGMs). The core functionality for downloading software is found in the G2S download class; functionality for authenticating software following download is found in the G2S gat (Game Authentication) class.
Supporting this technology are three other standards from the Gaming Standards Association (GSA): the Package Manifest File Format – a standardized method for delivering download and installation instructions to a software download server; the Trusted GAT Results File Format – a standardized method for delivering expected software signatures to a software download server; and, the Peripheral Manifest File Format – a standardized method used by peripheral suppliers to deliver information about downloadable firmware to EGM suppliers.
The G2S download and gat classes as well as the supporting standards are optional. Operator and jurisdictional preference will determine when they need to be included in an EGM.
This course introduces students to the download and gat classes and their supporting standards. Students will learn their purpose and how they are intended to be used.
