Stefan is currently the Head of Analytics at Hero Gaming and is also a trainer with iGaming Academy where he delivers our Business Analytics course. Stefan has been working in the iGaming industry for more than 10 years across different companies and functions. Having a Mathematical and Statistical background he transitioned into Analytics and gained comprehensive knowledge on Data Analysis, Customer Analytics and industry metrics.

How long have you been working in iGaming?
It will be 12 years this September! It’s been a long and rewarding journey which has now led me to be the Head of Analytics for one of the major gaming companies here on the island. It takes hard work and determination to climb up the ladder, but I must say, it’s worth it. There’s no quick fix, and someone cannot assume that they will be at the top immediately – you develop your skills and you grow in the industry.
Why did you decide to get involved in training with iGaming Academy?
Honestly, it came across as a networking opportunity through which I could meet new people both from within & outside the industry, but through the years it has become much more than that. The subject is close to heart and it is an opportunity to share some of the experience that I have garnered through the years.
What advice do you have to give for people looking to get into iGaming?
Attend iGaming Academy courses, do your own research on the betting products, speak to recruiters and subscribe to their respective newsletters to get an understanding of the job opportunities. This will help bridge the gap between your current skills and the skill set that companies are looking for. Also, subscribe to iGaming news portals to get a feeling of what is going on in the industry. It may sound like a lot of work but it will help get you to where you want to be.
What do you find most rewarding about your job?
There’s never a dull moment! I get to work on interesting projects that keep me motivated and there is always an opportunity to expand my knowledge. I also get to meet interesting people from different countries with a diverse set of skills. In addition to all of this, there are also numerous travelling opportunities that come with the job.
What types of personalities do you see in your training?
Interesting question! I’ve had people from every different kind of background – ranging from people with a PhD with no industry knowledge, employees from other gaming companies looking to increase their knowledge and attend a hands-on course, to others who never worked in iGaming but were interested in opening a white label venture. I also had students fresh from university seeking to gain an understanding before applying for jobs.
